Pitzer College, Claremont, California
May 2022
As a double major in International & Intercultural Studies and Sociology, I have explored the interconnected forces that shape societies, from global inequalities to institutional power and social movements. My studies have given me the tools to critically analyze how race, class, gender, and nationality intersect with history, policy, and culture, shaping both individual experiences and broader social structures.
Through coursework, study abroad, fieldwork, and a justice practicum, I have engaged with diverse perspectives, challenging dominant narratives and examining pathways toward social change. My research and hands-on learning have strengthened my ability to apply sociological theories and global frameworks to real-world issues, preparing me to navigate and contribute to complex social and political landscapes.

August 2024 - December 2024
As a Master's student in Seville and Madrid, I engaged in an immersive academic and professional experience that blended international theory with real-world application. I studied intercultural communication, leadership, and organizational change through an intensive seminar and online coursework. I explored theoretical frameworks in international education, including post-colonialism, feminist theory, and public diplomacy, while also developing qualitative research skills through a practitioner inquiry course. Field visits provided firsthand insight into Spanish educational policy within historical and political contexts. Reflective practice and Spanish language study further enriched my understanding, shaping my approach to cross-cultural education and global engagement.
US Fulbright English Teaching Scholarship
Institute of International Education
Botswana
January 2023 - October 2023
During my Fulbright experience, I engaged in a dynamic role that combined teaching, community engagement, and cross-cultural exchange. As an English Teaching Assistant, I worked in secondary classrooms, adapting lessons to support language acquisition and student engagement. Beyond the classroom, I collaborated with local educators on teaching strategies and led a library development project, expanding access to English-language materials and fostering a passion for reading among students. I also gained firsthand insight into education policy and international collaboration while navigating the challenges and rewards of working in a new cultural and linguistic environment.
Semester Abroad: Pitzer in Nepal
Tribhuvan Vishwavidalaya
Nepal
January 2020 - May 2020
While in Nepal, I explored the country’s social, political, and cultural landscape through an immersive learning program. I engaged with leaders in journalism, women’s rights, religion, and politics, while fieldwork and assignments deepened my understanding of kinship, development, and environmental issues. I also participated in intensive Nepali language study, gaining practical communication skills through daily instruction and real-world application. Though the program was ultimately completed online due to COVID-19, the experience reinforced my commitment to social responsibility and cross-cultural engagement.
Semester Abroad: Pitzer in Africa
St. Augustine University of Tanzania, University of Botswana, Universiteit van Pretoria, University of Zimbabwe
Tanzania, Botswana, South Africa, Zimbabwe
August 2018 - December 2018
The Pitzer in Africa program provided me with a multi-country, comparative learning experience in Botswana, South Africa, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe. Through homestays, fieldwork, and study trips, I explored how governments, NGOs, and local communities address issues such as colonial legacies, development, human rights, conservation, and education. Immersing myself in local cultures and working with scholars and community leaders deepened my understanding of regional challenges and the diverse strategies for social change. This hands-on, interdisciplinary experience allowed me to critically engage with global issues through Southern and Eastern African lens.
As part of the program, I conducted an Independent Study Project (ISP) through an animal management internship at Antelope Park in Gweru, Zimbabwe. During this internship, I evaluated the efficacy of their lion rehabilitation and reintroduction into the wild program. The ISP allowed me to gain hands-on experience in animal conservation while also critically assessing the program’s methods and impact. Additionally, it provided an opportunity to measure the benefits and drawbacks of voluntourism, particularly in how it influences local communities and wildlife conservation efforts. This experience deepened my understanding of the complexities surrounding voluntourism and its role in sustainable practices.
